Nationally, it is difficult to find
a local Byulshin gut easily, but in
Andong area, Byungsanshin gut, Soodongbyulshin
gut,
Maryeongbyeolshin gut as well as Hahwebyeolshin
gut have been handed down from the Goryeo
Age, all of which are designated
as national treasures or intangible
cultural properties. Especially, Hahwe
mask dance and Byungsan mask dance have
been fully
confirmed to be handed down with distinct
cultural masks.
Therefore, it is easily presumed that
in the area of Andong where the gut
culture of community unit, such as Village
gut, Byulshin
gut and Town gut, was prevalent, Sungjoo
gut which is a domestic gut seems to
have accelerated its culture, which
particularly
made Sungjoo faith much stronger. |

In other words, the construction skills
in Andong
were developed in advance, compared
to other areas, among which its wooden
construction technique was especially
advanced.
In addition to building a house itself,
various relevant ceremonies were created,
which makes it possible to infer that
during the process,
the suggestion that people believe in
Sungjoo god started to get accepted.
In fact, Andong has the oldest wooden
structure, Bonjeongsa Geunakjeon, in
Korea, and there are so many great wooden
cultural properties in Andong that it
is called the number one place for architecture
students to visit as well as the museum
of Korean architecture history.

As the construction culture was highly
advanced along with the Gut culture,
the Sungjoo faith was remarkably developed
in which a special pine tree, deserving
the recognition as Sungjoomok, was appointed
to worship. At last, mainly with the
special pine tree appointed Sungjoomok
among pine tress in Andong Jebeewon,
it is possible enough to presume that
the Sungjoo belief as well as Sungjoo
Gut were greatly developed.
[Since long ago, there have grown a great many of good-quality pine trees
in Andong, which drew attention as
wooden materials for a good house,
and there were good carpenters with
great construction skills, which especially
contributed to the development of
its construction ritual culture. Besides,
gut culture, Korean indigenous religion,
was widely developed, reinforcing
Sungjoo gut along with the community
guts, among which the Sungjoo faith,
worshiping Sungjoomok, the special
pine tree in Jebeewon, became remarkably
developed.]
